Mom Hack – lunches

Hey everyone,

Today I thought I would share a mom hack about school lunches!

There is no right or wrong way to parent! However, we can share tips that make it easier. So today I will share one of my mom habits that make my life run a little smoother.

Ready . . . .?

you sure . . . .?

Alright here is it . . . .

MAKE LUNCHES THE NIGHT BEFORE AND LET THE KIDS HELP!! In the end, it’s them that have to eat it. You can tell them what food groups they can have, so you know htere are healthy options.

I have been doing this hack for the past two years! No fights about whats in the lunch and she eats almost everything in there!

I make lunches as I’m cleaning up the kitchen from supper so I’m not in the kitchen on and off all night AND the dishes get done at once!!!

Want to know another secret???!! I do the same thing with my husbands lunch except he gets whatever I put in there!

Why I’m still breastfeeding

Hey everyone,

** Disclosure: Everything is from my opinion and what has worked with my family! All opinions are my own! **

With all the controversy about breastfeeding versus formula and breastfeeding in public. I thought I would share my story about why I’m still breastfeeding my 10 month old son.

A little back story. I was able to breastfeed my daughter until she was 7 months old then had to switch to formula has my milk wasn’t giving her enough nutrients, and I was constantly feeding her. Also I was returning back to work soon and wanted time to make the switch with out stress.

So when my son was born, I wanted to feed him breastmilk until he was about 7 months old as well. However I had a hard time, at first, getting him to latch properly. Then once we got that straightened out, he was growing too fast at times for me to keep up with what he needed. So we were adding in a little bottle of formula about once a day so I could keep up to him.

I was heart broken when we started the one bottle formula as I thought I had failed my son as he was about 4 months old. Then for months we have gone back and forth with just my milk and adding a bottle.

I had to put aside what my heart wanted, which was to breastfeed him until at least 7 months. I had to focus on his health and my sanity. And since I have two kids now, I couldn’t spend all day feeding a baby.

Well fast forward a few months and I’m still breastfeeding him. As he is getting bigger we are giving him more and more solids foods of course. But we tried homo milk and he developed milk rash from it under his eyes. The rash was so bad it looked like it was starting to blister.

He wouldn’t take a Enfamil formula bottle, it was like he didn’t like the taste. So we switched to Similac formula. I thought everything was going great. He took it and drank the whole thing. I was excited!!There did not seem to be any problems, however, my excitement ended. As for the past day and half, he has been having more and more spit up.

He was just having two bottles a day with solid food through out the day. He would have breast milk at nap and bed time. A good transition in my opinion. But with the amount of spit up, I might have to go back to the drawing board and see what else I can do. Or find the happy medium for both of us and what works best with my family.

It has been a journey for sure, and as I continue on it I will definitely be sharing it!

Until next time . . .
